Committeepersons
In accordance with state statutes, the Dupage County Election
Commission divides each township into precincts. A precinct is the
smallest governmental civil division in Illinois.
Milton Township has 109 precincts. There are a total of 732 precincts
in DuPage County.
Precinct committepersons are the heart and soul of a political
organization. While many other people actively participate within the
party, only precinct committeepeople are voting members.
In every even-numbered primary year, any individual living within a
given precinct may run for precinct committeeperson. Elected precinct
committeepersons serve a two year term. If a committeeperson position
is vacant, the chairperson of the County party may appoint somebody.
