Thank you for visiting.
More
than 44 percent of DuPage voters in the 2004 presidential election sided
with the Democratic candidate. More than
42 percent of the voters in the 2006 primary election requested a Democrat
ballot. And more than 44 percent of the voters in DuPage County District 4
voted for me. Yet
there is not one Democrat serving on the DuPage County Board.
- To have a Democrat on the Board
will implement the benefits of a two party system... offering an
alternative view, and
representing those with no voice.
I am a Democrat running in District 4 for a four year
term and I am asking for your vote.
The County Board oversees a budget
of well over $400 million, manages over 3,200 employees, approves land use
zoning, establishes policy
and approves
contracts.
I will work to encourage checks and balances, to expanded
transparency, to hold down expenses, and to produce moderate and appropriate
change.
These actions are critical to the life of the County and its
residents. I
encourage you to review this web site, to support me, and to give me
the opportunity to add
balance to the County Board.
My career experience includes...
Public employee:
- A teacher for five years, a member of the
Air Force for three and the Army National Guard for 17 — and a city and county planner for 33 years.
Private sector:
- A realtor since February 2004 and an independent planning
consultant since February 2005.
Nonprofit volunteer:
Kiwanis Club of Central DuPage Board (four years)
- First United Methodist Church Council and Trustee Board (six years)
- Marcy
Newberry Association Board (six years)
- Kankakee Neighborhood Housing Services
Board (four years)
- Region IX Health Systems Planning Board
(three years)
- American
Planning
Association
Chicago-Metro Section (three years).
In these assignments I
have been responsible for students, soldiers, government employees,
buildings, and capital
equipment.
I have created budgets; negotiated
contracts; hired and fired employees; encouraged
training; spent (and saved)
taxpayer and private dollars;
cooperated with other
board members, employees and contractors;
followed Federal, state and local regulations — while
always remaining publically and professionally accountable.
I have found that A Better Way is when each public employee,
and every elected official, truly represents and works for the public.
Every one of these individuals must keep all citizens in mind
when decisions are made, when budgets are prepared...
every time they decide how to spend your money. Each
must seek to find ways to save funds as they work to
improve quality service.
You will find here more information about the positions I
hold regarding county government, a more detailed biography and
a schedule that includes events and
places where I'll be meeting and talking with residents between now and
election day.
Also online are ways you can help support my
campaign and several ways to contact me. There
is also a page of links relating to the
upcoming election.
Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to your support.
It's not just "time for a change" — it's time for A Better Way!
