Project 2025: A Blueprint for the Next Trump Administration
Submitted by Frank Merritt (click to expand)

Project 2025 is a MAGA-based blueprint for the next Trump administration, supported by the Heritage Foundation and largely written by current and former members of the Trump administration or campaign.  It calls for a sweeping reconstruction of American government, expanding presidential powers and undermining regulatory agencies.   Every voter must understand what it promotes; the more people know about it, the more they oppose it.

Project 2025 proposes abandoning strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, repealing regulations, downsizing the Environmental Protection Agency, and privatizing the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (because it is “one of the main drivers of the climate change alarm industry.)”   At a time when global temperatures are setting all-time records and climate disasters are increasingly prevalent, a second Trump presidency would be catastrophic for the work against climate change.

One of the most appalling goals of Project 2025, one which is fully embraced by Trump, is to reclassify tens of thousands of federal civil service workers (including scientists, professionals, experts) as “political appointees”, who can be replaced by the president without cause or oversight.  This would cripple the scientific work and expertise of our government, as it is designed to do.  Trump instituted this kind of reclassification during the last months of his administration by executive order.  President Biden rescinded that order, but it is clear that Trump will re-instate it if given the chance, and that the most important requirement for any Trump appointee is absolute personal loyalty to Donald Trump.

This short note barely scratches the surface of Project 2025.  For more details, see the Wikipedia article[1], which writes that “Critics have characterized Project 2025 as an authoritarian Christian Nationalist plan to steer the U.S. toward autocracy.[2]  Legal experts have said it would undermine the rule of law,[3] separation of powers, separation of church and state, and civil liberties.[4]"
