I've been a Democrat since high school after doing a project on Eleanor Roosevelt and learning about all the ways government can work for the good of everyone. I remain a Democrat because it's the party that espouses and acts on gun safety, voter access, diversity and equity, reproductive freedom, accountability, and social/racial/economic justice.
Accomplishments
Led initiatives like the annual District 2 Domestic Violence Donations Drive and a county-wide letter—signed by the ROE and county law enforcement officials—promoting safe firearm storage to protect school communities
Started several new programs at the county level under my leadership:
County Chair of the Economic Development Committee - began the Hotel Transportation Grant Program to aid in tourism and economic development, and pushed forward the Industry Insight Series with workNet DuPage.
County Chair of Technology Committee - initiated the County Municipal Technology Roundtable, which brings county technology resources and best practices to local, municipal governments in the areas of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence
Legal aid attorney with a masters in social work. Represented and advised low-income clients in areas of housing/eviction, disability, unemployment, and specializing in domestic violence and family law litigation
Priorities When Elected
Customer service – making sure that residents, and particularly senior citizens, get customized support to pay their property taxes easily and efficiently.
Innovation – employing technology to streamline processes in the office and improve service
Community Engagement – leading initiatives to educate residents of all ages, and attending community events to raise the profile of the office and better serve everyone
Yeena Deserves Your Vote Because…
My commitment to public service is clear. My desire to serve the public compelled me to attain my JD/MSW, and moved me to dedicate my legal career to leveling the playing field for those at a distinct disadvantage (due to language, gender, race/ethnicity, and income). Further, my participation and passion for Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense, the Elmhurst Senior Citizens Commission, the League of Women Voters, and other organizations demonstrate that I live out my values and work hard for my community. In addition, I look forward to breaking barriers and serving as the first Asian American/Korean American in county-wide office in DuPage County.
